Position: Full-time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)

Location: Norfolk, VA area

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with our psychiatric physicians to deliver comprehensive psychiatric medical care.
• Conduct Psychiatric Admitting Evaluations and History & Physical Examinations for newly admitted patients.
• Make treatment recommendations and ensure appropriate orders are implemented.
• Perform psychiatric rounding in our Residential Treatment settings, supporting our Psychiatrist with weekly med-checks.
• Maintain communication with families regarding significant psychiatric/medical updates.
• Document patient encounters thoroughly and accurately in medical records.
• Participate in utilization reviews with insurance companies.
• Provide discharge recommendations and prescriptions for psychiatric medications.
• Respond to emergency needs or crisis situations as necessary.

Requirements:

• PhD or Master’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited school.
• Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner/APRN in Virginia or willingness to obtain.
• Board Certified through the ANCC as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Psychiatric and Mental Health.
• Current National DEA Certificate.
