Primary Care Medical Assistant

Job Summary:
The Medical Assistant (MA) plays a vital role in our patient-centered practice. This position requires a highly motivated and compassionate individual with excellent clinical skills, a strong work ethic, and a genuine love for working with children. Spanish language proficiency is strongly desired, almost a must-have.
Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
- Escorting patients to exam rooms and preparing them for examinations.
- Taking and documenting vital signs (temperature, pulse, blood pressure, weight, height).
- Obtaining and documenting patient history, including chief complaint, allergies, and medications.
- Administering immunizations and medications (as delegated and permitted by licensure/certification).
- Assisting providers with procedures and exams.
- Collecting and processing specimens (urine, blood, etc.).
- Performing CLIA-waived testing.
- Providing patient education and instructions.
- Managing and stocking exam rooms.
- Maintaining a clean and safe environment.
Administrative Tasks:
- Answering phones and scheduling appointments.
- Managing patient charts and electronic health records (EHR).
- Processing referrals and prior authorizations.
- Managing inventory of medical supplies.
- Performing other clerical duties as assigned.
Communication & Teamwork:
- Communicating effectively with patients, parents, and staff.
- Working collaboratively with the healthcare team.
- Maintaining a positive and professional attitude.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a Medical Assistant program and certification (CMA or RMA) preferred.
- Experience working in a pediatric setting is highly desirable.
- Fluency in Spanish (spoken) is strongly desired, almost a must-have.
- Current CPR certification.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and equipment.
- Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- A genuine passion for working with children and their families.
