Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant (MA) plays a vital role in our patient-centered practice. This position requires a highly motivated and compassionate individual with excellent clinical skills, a strong work ethic, and a genuine love for working with children. Spanish language proficiency is strongly desired, almost a must-have.

Responsibilities:

Patient Care:

  • Escorting patients to exam rooms and preparing them for examinations.
  • Taking and documenting vital signs (temperature, pulse, blood pressure, weight, height).
  • Obtaining and documenting patient history, including chief complaint, allergies, and medications.
  • Administering immunizations and medications (as delegated and permitted by licensure/certification).
  • Assisting providers with procedures and exams.
  • Collecting and processing specimens (urine, blood, etc.).
  • Performing CLIA-waived testing.
  • Providing patient education and instructions.
  • Managing and stocking exam rooms.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe environment.

Administrative Tasks:

  • Answering phones and scheduling appointments.
  • Managing patient charts and electronic health records (EHR).
  • Processing referrals and prior authorizations.
  • Managing inventory of medical supplies.
  • Performing other clerical duties as assigned.

Communication & Teamwork:

  • Communicating effectively with patients, parents, and staff.
  • Working collaboratively with the healthcare team.
  • Maintaining a positive and professional attitude.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program and certification (CMA or RMA) preferred.
  • Experience working in a pediatric setting is highly desirable.
  • Fluency in Spanish (spoken) is strongly desired, almost a must-have.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, procedures, and equipment.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • A genuine passion for working with children and their families.
