Billing Specialist

Client job description The Billing Specialist is responsible for accurate and timely processing of customer billing in a high volume, transaction driven environment. This role focuses on executing standard billing activities, reviewing invoices for accuracy, and responding to billing inquiries, while following established processes and controls.

The Billing Specialist works closely with the Finance team to support the billing calendar and month end close. While primarily transactional, the role is expected to review day to day billing activity, identify patterns or recurring issues, and proactively flag potential risks or opportunities for process improvement.

Currently, this is a remote-first position, and this position may be required to periodically work on-site at our office and the frequency would depend on the department/division's requirements. Therefore, candidates must reside within a reasonable distance to commute to our office when required.

salary: $26 - $29 per hour

Responsibilities

• Process routine billing transactions across multiple revenue streams, ensuring invoices are accurate, complete, and issued in accordance with the billing calendar.
• Execute recurring billing runs (daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual) based on defined procedures, contract terms, and billing schedules.
• Review billing data and invoices for completeness and accuracy, validating pricing, quantities, and dates prior to issuance.
• Assist with billing setup and maintenance in Sage Intacct and related systems, following documented procedures and escalating issues or exceptions as needed.
• Review customer contracts and service agreements to understand billing terms and support accurate invoicing, escalating unclear or complex terms to senior team members.
• Support month end close activities by completing assigned billing tasks on time and responding to questions or follow ups from Finance.
• Respond to customer and internal billing inquiries via a shared inbox, providing timely, professional responses and routing issues to appropriate team members when needed.
