Mission or Goal of Unit:
The mission of the Obstetrics and Gynecology department is to provide the highest quality clinical care in both general and specialty Obstetrics and Gynecology to the women of central Virginia. In addition to the clinical mission, the department has the allied goals of providing undergraduate and graduate medical education in the field and advancing the field through basic and clinical research.The Department is committed to enhance diversity among its faculty, staff, and students. Finally, Department faculty have a responsibility to provide service to their profession and to the University Community
Chief Purpose of this position:
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is seeking qualified candidates to provide specialty care in Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery to patients at VCU Health. The position will include participation in student and resident education as well as participating in the departments clinical research activities.
Position Responsibilities:
TeachingThe faculty member will be responsible for actively participating in the department's educational activities, with particular attention to educating students and residents in their core educational objectives in urogynecology and pelvic floor disorders.ResearchThe person filling the position is encouraged to initiate clinical research projects. They are expected to participate in and facilitate other department research.ServiceFaculty member will serve on departmental, hospital, and university committees as necessary, as well as in a professional capacity in their field. ClinicalThe Urogynecology faculty member will see specialty specific patients in clinic, perform diagnostic procedures such as urodynamics, and will have an active surgical practice, which will include minimally invasive and robotic procedures. The staff member will also participate in the general gynecologic activities of the department as appropriate including nighttime call duties. OtherThe staff member will participate in department and institutional administrative activities as assigned by the division chief and department chair.
Required Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
Completion of training in OB/GYN residency program
Eligible for medical license in Virginia
Completion of training in Obstetrics and Gynecology equivalent to ACGME and ABOG accredited residency and fellowship programs
Completion of specialty training in Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery
Preferred Qualifications:
Completion of an ACGME accredited OB/GYN residency and ABOG or ACGME accredited fellowship in Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery
Demonstrated talent and experience in teaching and commitment to research and patient care
BC/BE by the American Board of OB/GYN in Obstetrics and Gynecology
