Program Overview

RIVA Solutions supports the U.S. Department of Education by delivering secure, scalable enterprise IT solutions that enable efficient service delivery, operational transparency, and modernization across education-focused programs.

This effort supports the enhancement and sustainment of ServiceNow-based platforms that streamline IT service management, workflow automation, and business process improvement within a secure federal environment. RIVA’s work ensures compliance with federal security standards while enabling digital transformation initiatives that improve internal operations and support the Department’s broader mission of advancing educational access and outcomes nationwide.

Position Overview

RIVA Solutions is seeking a Mid-Level ServiceNow Developer to join our IT team and contribute to the design, development, and implementation of ServiceNow solutions supporting enterprise business operations.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for a developer with foundational ServiceNow experience to expand technical expertise while collaborating with senior team members and business stakeholders. The ideal candidate demonstrates hands-on configuration and scripting experience within the ServiceNow platform and a strong desire to deepen development capabilities in an Agile delivery environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Configure and develop ServiceNow applications and modules, primarily within ITSM and related platform capabilities
  • Develop and maintain workflows, business rules, UI policies, client scripts, catalog items, and script includes
  • Assist with integrations between ServiceNow and external systems using REST, SOAP, and platform integration tools
  • Participate in requirements gathering sessions with business analysts and stakeholders
  • Perform unit testing and support user acceptance testing (UAT) activities
  • Troubleshoot and resolve platform issues with guidance from senior developers
  • Participate in code reviews and incorporate feedback to improve development practices
  • Assist with platform upgrades, release management, and testing activities
  • Create and maintain clear technical documentation for configuration and customization work
  • Support production incidents and service requests as required
  • Contribute to Agile sprint activities including planning, development, testing, and deployment
  • Support change management processes related to ServiceNow implementations

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science , Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 1–4 years of hands-on ServiceNow development experience
  • Experience supporting at least two full lifecycle ServiceNow implementations (Design through Operations & Maintenance)
  • Experience working with at least one ServiceNow module (ITSM, ITOM, ITBM/SPM, CSM, HR, or similar)
  • Working knowledge of JavaScript and ability to write functional scripts
  • Experience with core ServiceNow development tools including Business Rules, Client Scripts, UI Policies, Script Includes, and Workflows
  • Basic understanding of REST and SOAP APIs and integration concepts
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change, Service Request)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with moderate supervision in a remote environment
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Federal Public Trust

Preferred Qualifications

  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA)
  • ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD), or actively working toward certification
  • Experience with Flow Designer, Service Portal, or UI Builder
  • Familiarity with IntegrationHub and Update Sets
  • Experience with reporting and dashboards within ServiceNow
  • Exposure to Agile/Scrum methodologies
  • Experience supporting ticketing or workflow systems
  • Participation in ServiceNow user groups or community forums

Salary

Up to $130,000 annually, based on experience
