ER Registered Nurse Job Details

• Location: Cave Spring Freestanding Emergency Department, Salem, VA 24153
• Healthcare Setting: Emergency Department (8 beds)
• Employment Type: Locum tenens (Travel RN contract)
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 09/08/2025 – End: 12/08/2025)
• Nursing Shift: 12-hour nights (19:00–07:00)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Weekend Rotation: 3 weekend shifts (Fridays and Saturdays) per 4-week schedule
• Dress Code: Navy or White Scrubs
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1680–$1730

ER Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Virginia or compact state
• Minimum 1 year of recent emergency room (ER) nursing experience required
• Proficient in IV insertion, EKG interpretation, and patient assessment
• Required certifications: ACLS, PALS, BLS, TNCC
• Experience with Meditech EMR preferred
• Ability to independently mix pharmacy drugs (e.g., Tpa, KCentra) preferred
• Strong team player with excellent communication and independent decision-making skills

ER Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality emergency nursing care to patients in a fast-paced, 8-bed emergency department
• Perform IV insertions, EKGs, and medication mixing as required
• Ensure accurate medication administration and scanning for every patient
• Utilize GE monitors, nurse call systems, ventilators, Baxter pumps, and Zoll defibrillators
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of 23 RNs and other healthcare professionals
• Maintain precise documentation using Meditech EMR
• Participate in holiday and weekend shift rotations as scheduled
