Accounts Receivable Clerk

Fork Union Military Academy, an all-boys boarding school located in the beautiful central Virginia region near Charlottesville, Richmond, and the Blue Ridge Mountains, is seeking a dedicated professional for our business department.

Position Summary:

The Accounts Receivable Clerk is responsible for managing the school's tuition and fee collections, maintaining accurate financial records, and providing excellent customer service to parents and guardians. This position supports the Business Office in ensuring timely invoicing, payments, and reporting in accordance with the school's policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

The Account's Receivable Clerk is responsible for processing tuition, fees, donations, and other incoming payments accurately and in a timely manner; preparing and sending invoices, monthly statements, and account updates to families; monitoring aging reports and following up on past-due accounts professionally and consistently; maintaining accurate and up-to-date accounts receivable records in the financial system; collaborating with the admissions and development teams regarding student enrollment and donation records; responding to parent and staff inquiries related to billing and payments; assisting with audits and year-end financial reporting; and maintaining confidentiality and upholding ethical standards in all financial dealings.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field preferred
• 2+ years of experience in accounts receivable or bookkeeping, preferably in a non-profit or school setting
• Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., SGA, Clarity, FACTS, or similar)
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
• Strong customer service orientation
