Position Description
​CGI has an immediate need for a Senior Python Developer to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced team environment supporting one of the largest customers. • This role is located at a client site in Reston, VA. A hybrid working model is acceptable.

Your future duties and responsibilities
We are looking for a seasoned Senior Python Developer with deep expertise in AWS cloud services to join our Workflow Automation team. This role focuses on building and supporting a modern job scheduling and orchestration platform using AWS-native tools such as EventBridge, Step Functions, and Managed Workflows for Apache Airflow (MWAA). You’ll play a key role in transitioning from legacy systems to scalable, cloud-native solutions, with a strong emphasis on automation, resilience, and user experience. This is a hands-on development role that requires strong Python skills, cloud architecture knowledge, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role
• Advanced proficiency in Python for backend development and automation.
• Solid experience with AWS services, particularly:
• EventBridge, Step Functions, Lambda, Batch, MWAA (Apache Airflow)
• CloudWatch, DynamoDB, EC2
• Experience designing and implementing event-driven architectures.
• Familiarity with job scheduling and orchestration platforms (e.g., Autosys, Airflow).
• Strong understanding of API development and integration.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitLab, Jenkins, and Terraform.
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Exposure to front-end frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue) is a plus.
• Comfortable working in Agile/Scrum environments using JIRA and Confluence.
• Experience building resilient, multi-region cloud applications.
• Background in regulated industries (e.g., finance, healthcare) is a bonus.
• AWS Certified Developer – Associate required.
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate is a plus.
• 7+ years of professional experience in software development, with a strong focus on Python and cloud-based systems.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $88,200.00 - $121,200.00.
