Men's Prison Program Counselor

A driven and mission focused men’s prison Program Counselor to provide instruction of the Prison Fellowship Academy curriculum at the St. Bride's Correctional Institution for men in Chesapeake, VA. Expectations of this role:
- Maintain an active relationship with Jesus Christ and support the ministry through prayer and actions
- Provide instruction of the PF Academy curriculum using adult learning techniques
- Conduct regularly scheduled one-on-one progress meetings with participants to assess needs and track progress to goals
- Create/maintain case files and performance agreements; consult with staff on release plans
- Develop, maintain, communicate, monitor, and adjust master schedule for all Academy activities to include scheduling and supervision of volunteers
- Screen and place volunteer teachers and facilitators
- Promote and maintain positive working relationships within the prison setting
- Demonstrated ability to provide case planning and management for program participants within the prison
- 3+ years of experience working with at-risk individuals, people who are incarcerated, or other relevant population
- College degree in Behavioral Science or equivalent relevant experience
- Cross cultural sensitivity and experience
- Training and experience with substance abuse/recovery process
- Excellent written and oral communication/presentation skills
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 5%

Part-time employees working at least 20 hours per week on a regular basis are eligible for select offerings, not inclusive of health benefits, on a pro-rated basis. Salary at Prison Fellowship is determined by a variety of factors. For this position, the salary range is projected to be between $60,000 and $64,000.
