Surgical Technologist (Surg Tech)
Description
Job Responsibilities:
- The Surgical Technologist 1 demonstrates knowledge and practice of basic patient care concepts. Demonstrates basic surgical case preparation skills.
- Demonstrates responsible behavior as a health care professional.
- Demonstrates the ability to perform the role of the first scrub on all basic surgical cases. Demonstrates the application of the principles of asepsis.
- Demonstrates the application of the principles of aseptic technique
- Identifies variances from expected outcomes and responds to changes in patient needs.
- May perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Surgical Technologists 1 :
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Preferred: Recent Hospital experience and/or previous practice experience
- Must be eligible for Surgical Technologist registration via Commonwealth of Virginia at time of hire. Registration must be completed within 6 months of hire.
- Basic Life Support form AHA required upon start.
Surgical Technologists 2
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 2 years of Surgical Technologist experience
- Must be eligible for Surgical Technologist registration via Commonwealth of Virginia at time of hire. Registration must be completed within 6 months of hire.
- Basic Life Support form AHA required upon start.
Surgical Technologists 3
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 1 Year Surg Tech experience or equivalent
- Must be eligible for Surgical Technologist registration via Commonwealth of Virginia at time of hire. Registration must be completed within 6 months of hire.
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) via NBSTSA or Tech in Surgery Certified (TS-C) via NCCT required upon start.
