Role : Under general supervision, but following established policies and procedures, provides highest level of service to Credit Union commercial members in person and over the phone. Support the business loan functions include generating commercial loan documents, loan processing, reviewing loan closing package, coordinating loan closing and loan booking. Ordering appraisals, environmental, and flood reports for commercial loan closings. Analyzes loan requests to determine the appropriate documentation solution, advises loan team on loan structures, covenants requirements and provisions. The position involves commercial loan servicing such as tracking documentation, financial statements, UCC's, insurance and loan covenants maintenance, follows up and follows through on recorded documentation. The position also backs up the Commercial Loan Servicer by performing loan servicing functions for the commercial loan area. Serves as a critical central point for building and maintaining member business relationships and knowing who to collaborate with internally to exceed client expectations. This position is extremely detailed and is responsible for the maintenance of Apple's collateral position. Interactions with business development officers, lenders, business members, branches and Credit Union Service Organization. May attend Commercial Loan Committee meetings. Trains staff on commercial products and services. Provides general support duties for department. Performs duties and responsibilities in accordance with The Apple Way principles, of Team Up, Serve with Purpose, Challenge Yourself and Own It. Remains cognizant of and adheres to credit union policies and procedures, and regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned by the Commercial Servicing Manager. Essential Functions & Responsibilities: - Administers all aspects of commercial loan processing, including preliminary loan work-up document preparation and completing loan closing files. Engages and reviews appraisals, environmental reports, structural reports, flood, title documents, insurances and loan inspection reports, and helps to administer construction loan advances with title companies. Establishes collateral records when loan is booked.
- Facilitates commercial loan closings and pays vendors from closing proceeds.
- Prepares loan closing package with Laser-Pro for small loans, reviews attorney's closing package and verifies all documents accuracy.
- Follows up on closed loan files to obtain documentation to complete files. Performs post-closing document tracking, including preparation of insurance binders, financial statements, UCC-1 filings, property tax services and etc. Works on loan exception reports monthly.
- Performances on loan renewals, modifications, payoffs and lien releases process.
- Handles loan advances and draw requests, payments and any other loan inquires.
- Drafts department manual on loan processing procedures.
- Balancing GL daily and provide basic accounting services for the department
- Tracks incoming and outgoing payments on loan participation agreements and balances loan participation accounts.
- Assists department on core system operation and maintenance by submit ticket to vendor support, build parameters and customize documentation.
- Helps to organize files electronically by scanning and working with the accounting department. With extraordinary member service, assists business loan members by providing general lending information, such as loan and account applications, applicable rate structures, and product information. Cross-sells other products and services when applicable.
- Coordinates referrals to third-party providers, such as business credit/debit cards, merchant services, Small Business Administration audits, etc. Assists with maintaining relationships with these vendors, including related communications and maintaining related files.
- Takes phone and e-mail inquiries from Credit Union branches and commercial clients and formulates appropriate actions necessary to assist them.
- Provides information for reports to lenders, senior management and the Board of Directors.
- Trains and provides back-up to new staff members and co-workers when necessary.
Knowledge and Skills: Experience: Minimum of five years financial institution experience required. Two or more years previous commercial loan operations required. Knowledge of Symitar, SilverLake or similar financial services core processing data management system desirable. Knowledge of Laser-Pro. Experience or willingness to learn commercial loan underwriting and structuring, loan documentation, and software systems, NCUA Part 723 Business Lending Regulations, some commercial law. Experience with data entry. Education: Associate degree required. Bachelor's degree in business field preferred. Interpersonal Skills: Strong member/customer service orientation essential. Other Skills: Must have extreme attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to analyze and solve problems. Demonstrated ability to work independently, multi-task, and work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to efficiently and effectively perform duties with accuracy and within designated timeframes. PC proficient, including MS Office Suite (Word, Excel required). Knowledge of MS SharePoint preferred. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 25 pounds (loan documents) and utilize standard office equipment including, but not limited to, PC, fax, copier, telephone, etc. Work Environment: Ability to function in a financial institution environment. *** Apple Federal Credit Union values, encourages, and implements diversity in the workplace.
