Sr. Mainframe Engineer

Job Title : Sr. Mainframe Engineer
Location: Remote
Pay Rate: Open to Both W2 and established 1099 options
Position Type: Multiyear Contract

We are looking for senior mainframe engineers with 10-15 years of experience ideally in banking. Candidates must have extensive MS Excel experience for balancing and reconciliation (no advanced scripting required). Candidates must live in the US and have at least 3 years of experience working in the US.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Balancing work ( core focus )
• Manual tracking and reconciliation
• Updating and reapplying existing user/vendor code (minimal new development)
• Testing and validation

Key Skill Requirements & Flexibility
Core Technical Skills

• COBOL / Mainframe programming (10-15 years)
• JCL
• Mainframe tools:
  • CA7
  • ADR/DSU (backups)
  • IBM mainframe utilities
• CICS: preferred (3–5+ years)
• ChangeMan: preferred, not required

Experience Level

• Target: 10-15 years

Easytrieve

• Required, but flexible (3-5 years)

MS Excel (Critical Skill)

• Essential for balancing and reconciliation
• No advanced scripting required

Must be comfortable with:

• Referencing multiple workbooks
• Linking external files
• Using formulas for reconciliation
• Key tool for modernizing and supporting mainframe output balancing

Banking/Regulatory Experience

• Banking experience: strongly preferred
• Regulatory experience: acceptable

FIS / Systematics

• Highly desired but will train for the right candidate

Additional / Transferable Skills

• Global experience acceptable
• Java: nice-to-have
