Registered Nurse Job Details

• Assignment Type: Locum tenens (Travel RN contract)
• Location: Roanoke, VA 24014 (Virginia nursing jobs)
• Unit: Neuro PCU (Crystal Springs tower, 7S NCC PCU)
• Start Date: September 2, 2025
• End Date: December 2, 2025 (13-week contract, extendable up to 52 weeks)
• Shifts: 3x12-hour day shifts per week (06:45 - 19:15); 4x12 available by request
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1800-$1840
• Patient Ratio: 1:5 (typical for PCU nursing jobs)
• Setting: Adult patients, 20-bed Neuro PCU, including 5 beds for 24-hour epilepsy monitoring

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Compact or Virginia single state (pending VA single state accepted with non-compact license)
• Minimum 1 year of recent PCU or Neuro PCU RN experience
• Proficiency with Epic charting system required
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS (required for most healthcare jobs)
• COVID-19 and Flu vaccinations required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Comfortable managing a 1:5 patient ratio in a fast-paced clinical environment
• Willingness to work at least one holiday per 13-week assignment
• Not accepting local candidates within 100 miles of Roanoke, VA

Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to adult patients with neurosurgery, stroke, epilepsy, and other neuro-specific diagnoses
• Monitor and manage patients undergoing 24-hour epilepsy monitoring in a specialized PCU setting
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias; activate rapid response teams as needed
• Administer blood products and manage central/peripheral lines
• Oversee cardiac drips (no titration), oxygen therapy, and non-invasive airway management
• Implement isolation precautions and adhere to infection control protocols
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (IV, PT, RT, pharmacy, and more)
• Document patient care using Epic electronic medical records (EMR)
• Participate in self-scheduling and work some weekends as required
