Finance Assistant
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Finance Assistant in Newport News, VA. Summary: The Finance Assistant supports the finance department by performing routine accounting, financial, and administrative tasks. This role helps ensure accurate financial records, timely processing of transactions, and efficient day-to-day financial operations. Key Responsibilities:
- Finance Assistant will assist with daily accounting activities, including data entry and transaction processing
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions (invoicing, payments, reconciliations)
- Maintain accurate financial records, spreadsheets, and documentation
- Assist in preparing financial reports, budgets, and forecasts
- Reconcile bank statements and assist with month-end and year-end closing processes
- Process expense reports and ensure compliance with company policies
- As a Finance Assistant, you will support audits by preparing documentation and responding to requests
- Monitor and track financial data for accuracy and completeness
- Assist with payroll processing, as needed
- Perform general administrative duties related to the finance function
- High School diploma/GED or equivalent (Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field preferred)
- Previous experience in a finance, accounting, or administrative support role
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial processes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Good organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to handle confidential financial information with discretion
- Familiarity with accounting or financial software (e.g., ERP or bookkeeping systems)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Problem-solving mindset and willingness to learn
- Adaptability in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
