Job Description:
The Legal Assistant provides administrative and clerical support to attorneys and legal teams, ensuring efficient operation of legal processes. This role involves preparing legal documents, conducting research, managing schedules, and maintaining legal files with accuracy and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft, proofread, and file legal documents such as contracts, subpoenas, pleadings, and briefs.
- Organize and maintain physical and digital files in accordance with firm or departmental standards.
- Conduct legal research and compile findings for attorney review.
- Manage attorney calendars, including scheduling meetings, hearings, and court dates.
- Communicate with clients, courts, witnesses, and outside counsel under attorney supervision.
- Assist with trial preparation, including organizing exhibits and documents.
- Perform data entry, billing support, and timekeeping.
- Ensure all documentation complies with applicable laws and firm guidelines.
Qualifications:
- 2-4+ years of Legal Assistant experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; proficiency in LexisNexis and Westlaw preferred
- Highly polished, organized, with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Bachelor's degree preferred (equivalent experience may compensate).
