Turkish Linguist - Language Instruction/Testing

Overview:

SOS International LLC (SOSi) is seeking Turkish Instructors in Northern Virginia. In this role you will provide language instruction in a professional environment with responsibility for lesson planning, delivery, and assessment of learning. Strong inter-personal and communications skills are a must to supportively engage with adult students.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver instruction to students ranging on a starting level from 0 to 3 to raise their proficiency level on the Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR).
• Execute the full cycle of lesson development/planning, instruction, and student assessment.
• Develop lesson plans for appropriate for beginners, intermediate, and advanced classes.
• Facilitate classes focused on real-world scenarios to develop student's skills in speaking, listening, and reading for both social and professional situations.
• Provide students with constructive feedback. Consult and collaborate with customers on organization needs to further student success.
• Assess students’ learning and proficiency levels base in the ILR scale.

Qualifications:

• The federal government requires all linguists on this contract to obtain and maintain a security clearance. This security clearance requires U.S. citizenship.
• Prior to beginning work, candidates must complete the process for a fully adjudicated TS/SCI (with poly) security clearance. SOSi will sponsor qualified candidates for clearance.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Language, or a related field.
• Minimum of five years of experience within the last seven years in the foreign language instruction (adult and university level), assessing student proficiency, developing instructional curricula, and integrating current technology and cultural understanding.
• Demonstrated knowledge of relevant history, culture, politics, and economics.
• Possess excellent English written and verbal communication skills. Competency will be determined by a standardized exam which must be completed as part of the application process.
• Possess native or near native competency in Turkish. Competency will be determined by standardized language exams which must be completed as part of the application process.
• Experience in using SharePoint and Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Existing, active, in-scope TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph.
• Master's degree in Education, Language, or a related field.
• Overseas experience related to or utilizing Turkish language.
• Versed in multiple teaching methods to support students’ varied learning abilities and styles.

Working Conditions:

• Office environment.
• Full-time onsite work. No possibility of remote work.
