Position Overview

As a Data Center Security Officer, you are the first and last line of defense for mission-critical infrastructure. This is not a passive observation role. You will be responsible for enforcing strict access control, conducting proactive interior patrols of high-security server environments, and identifying both external and insider threats. You will operate in a highly regulated environment where compliance, attention to detail, and professional confrontation are paramount.

Key Responsibilities:

• Strict Access Control: Operate and monitor dual-authentication access systems, and enforce a zero-tolerance policy for tailgating and piggybacking through the "Stop and Verify" protocol.
• Interior "White Space" Patrols: Conduct unpredictable, randomized tactical patrols of server floors, hot/cold aisles, and sensitive telecom closets. Perform physical "push/pull" tests on secured cages and enclosures.
• Threat & Anomaly Detection: Proactively identify unauthorized hardware (rogue USBs, unapproved devices) and monitor environmental baseline changes, including abnormal server noise, localized temperature spikes, or water leaks.
• Visitor & Vendor Management: Process and continuously escort third-party technicians, HVAC contractors, and VIPs. Ensure strict compliance with facility rules regarding tool bags, unauthorized media, and photography.
• De-escalation & Professional Confrontation: Confidently and respectfully challenge any unbadged or improperly badged personnel, regardless of their rank or title, utilizing tactical communication and verbal judo.
• Emergency Response: Act as the first responder for medical emergencies (CPR/AED) and facility alarms (forced doors, power grid failures, clean agent fire suppression discharges), liaising smoothly with local EMS and law enforcement.
• Reporting: Write clear, precise, and legally defensible incident reports and logbook entries.

Basic Qualifications:

• Active Private Security Services Registration from the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS).
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must pass a background check, including criminal history and drug screening.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to maintain a highly professional command presence and adhere to strict uniform standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior military or law enforcement experience is highly preferred.
• Previous experience in a data center, SCIF, or high-security corporate environment.
• Current CPR/AED and Basic First Aid certifications.
• Familiarity with CCTV monitoring and enterprise access control software.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8-12 hours per shift) across large facility campuses.
• Ability to rapidly respond to alarms or emergencies on foot.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and physically assist in emergency medical or evacuation scenarios.
