ICU Registered Nurse Job Details

• Assignment Type: Locum tenens (Travel Nursing Contract)
• Primary Specialty: ICU – Neuro ICU Registered Nurse
• Location: Roanoke, VA 24014 (Virginia healthcare jobs)
• Facility: Large Level I/II Trauma Center
• Start Date: October 6, 2025
• End Date: January 5, 2026
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks (option to extend up to 52 weeks)
• Shift: 3x12-hour nights (18:45 – 07:15); 4x12 available upon request
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1800–$1840
• Patient Population: Adult Neuro ICU patients
• Unit Size: 12-bed Neurocritical Care Unit

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Virginia or compact state)
• Minimum 1 year of recent ICU RN experience (Neuro ICU experience strongly preferred)
• Experience in large Level I/II trauma facility required
• Proficiency with Epic EMR (electronic medical record) system
• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• COVID-19 and Flu vaccinations required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Ability to work at least 1 holiday per 13-week contract (2 holidays for winter assignments)
• Must reside more than 100 miles from Roanoke, VA (local candidates not eligible)

ICU Registered Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver expert neurocritical care to patients with stroke, neurosurgical, complex spine, and neuro-specific conditions
• Manage advanced ICU procedures: EVDs, therapeutic hypothermia, arterial lines, ventilators, central lines, and vasoactive drips
• Administer emergency medications and perform rapid response interventions
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams: IV therapy, physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, radiology, social services, and rapid response teams
• Maintain strict infection control and isolation protocols
• Document patient care accurately using Epic EMR
• Participate in orientation and ongoing clinical training as required
