Location: Leesburg, VA (Hybrid – Tuesday through Thursday onsite)

Assignment type: Contract-to-Permanent

Compensation: $31.00–$33.65/hr

Work Schedule: M-F 9-5

Job Description:

A growing organization is seeking an Accounts Receivable Specialist to join its accounting team in a fast-paced and evolving environment. This position will play a key role in supporting day-to-day receivables operations, customer account management, and cash application activities. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, highly organized, and comfortable working in a collaborative environment with multiple internal departments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Apply and post customer payments accurately and timely
• Reconcile customer accounts and investigate payment discrepancies
• Research and resolve unapplied or misapplied cash transactions
• Generate and review invoices to ensure accuracy and completeness
• Monitor accounts receivable aging and assist with collection follow-up efforts
• Investigate and resolve billing issues in partnership with internal teams
• Maintain accurate customer account and billing information within ERP systems
• Support order release processes and resolve account holds as necessary
• Collaborate with Sales, Customer Service, and Operations regarding customer account activity
• Prepare documentation supporting receivable transactions and audit requirements
• Assist with month-end close activities related to accounts receivable
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and reporting requirements
• Identify and escalate complex account discrepancies or system-related issues

Qualifications:

• Associate’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field required
• Minimum of 3 years of accounts receivable experience
• Experience working with large ERP systems; JD Edwards experience preferred
• Strong Excel skills including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, formulas, and data analysis
• Understanding of cash application processes and related compliance practices
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
• Ability to diagnose, isolate, and resolve accounting discrepancies effectively
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage shifting priorities
• Willingness to work overtime as needed
