Senior Network Engineer Service Provider Architecture

Location: On-Site | Herndon, VA

Emergent Technologies Inc., a veteran-owned provider of mission-focused IT and engineering solutions, is seeking experienced Senior Network Engineers to support a high-visibility program for a key government customer. This role requires deep expertise in MPLS/BGP-based transport networks , service provider architecture , and multi-vendor environments. Key Responsibilities

• Serve as part of a high-performing network engineering team delivering Transport services for a large-scale IT infrastructure initiative

• Design, engineer, and implement MPLS/BGP-based service provider networks
  
  
• Lead and guide architecture decisions, providing mentorship to junior engineers

• Design and deploy core and edge network technologies for service provider environments

• Translate customer requirements into secure, scalable network solutions

• Integrate enterprise networks with other service providers and develop IP peering agreements
  
  
• Perform Tier 4 support , including network upgrades, maintenance, and optimization

• Work with diverse network operating systems including Cisco IOS-XE, IOS-XR , and Juniper JUNOS
  
  
• Develop robust multi-vendor solutions (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, and others)

Required Education & Experience

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (preferred)

• Minimum 11 years of relevant professional experience in network engineering, design, and operations

• Proven ability to lead Service Provider architecture solutions and manage complex transport networks

• Expert-level knowledge of routing protocols including:
  • OSPF

  • BGP

  • EIGRP

  • ISIS

• Strong knowledge of modern service provider technologies and best practices

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

• Prior hands-on experience in service provider network environments
  
  
• Background working with Intelligence Community (IC) partners
  
  
• Proficiency with multi-vendor routing platforms and architectures

• Familiarity with cloud and hybrid cloud architectures , including network extension to:
  • AWS

  • Azure

  • Oracle

  • Google Cloud

• Broad understanding of modern network engineering principles and systems design

• Experience with Continuous Integration (CI) and test automation in iterative development cycles

• Hands-on experience with network automation , including tools such as:
  • Cisco NSO

  • Ansible

  • Python
