Join AWS as a Hardware Development Engineer to architect and lead the development of next-generation cloud infrastructure hardware. Drive innovation in complex PCBA designs utilizing cutting-edge FPGA SoCs, working with world-class engineers in our dedicated product development lab in Arlington, VA.

This position requires that the candidate selected must currently possess and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance. Upon start, the selected candidate will be sponsored for a commensurate clearance for each government agency for which they perform AWS work.

Key job responsibilities
- Architect and lead development of complex PCB designs incorporating FPGA SoCs
- Drive system-level hardware architecture decisions and technical requirements
- Lead new product introduction (NPI) processes with contract manufacturers
- Develop and validate high-speed digital and mixed-signal circuits
- Ensure designs meet EMI/EMC compliance, thermal, and signal integrity requirements
- Partner with FPGA/firmware teams to define hardware interfaces and requirements
- Lead design reviews and drive technical consensus across multiple teams
- Mentor junior engineers and establish hardware engineering best practices

A day in the life
You will work with a cross-functional team of hardware, software, and FPGA engineers in our dedicated product development lab. Your day might include architecting new hardware solutions, reviewing PCB designs, collaborating with contract manufacturers, debugging prototypes, or mentoring team members. You'll partner closely with product managers to define requirements, work with FPGA engineers to optimize hardware interfaces, and engage with manufacturing teams to ensure smooth production ramp-up.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 5+ years of experience in hardware development
- Experience with PCB design and high-speed digital circuits
- Experience with FPGA SoC hardware integration, hardware validation and debugging
- Experience with manufacturing processes and DFM principles
- Current, active US Government Security Clearance of Top Secret with SCI eligibility or above
