• Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse (RN) – Neuro ICU, Nights
• Assignment Type: Locum tenens (Travel nursing contract)
• Location: Roanoke, VA 24014 (Southwestern Virginia healthcare jobs)
• Unit: Neuro ICU (7S NCC ICU)
• Facility: Large Level I/II Trauma Center
• Start Date: September 8, 2025
• End Date: December 8, 2025
• Duration: 13 weeks (option to extend up to 52 weeks)
• Shift: Nights, 3x12-hour shifts (18:45 – 07:15); 4x12 available by request
• Hours per Week: 36
• Patient Ratio: 1:2
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1800 - $1840

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active RN license (Virginia or compact state)
• Minimum 1 year of recent ICU nursing experience (Neuro ICU preferred)
• Experience in large Level I/II healthcare facility required
• Epic EMR charting experience required
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• COVID-19 and Flu vaccines required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Must be able to work at least 1 holiday during the assignment (2 for winter holidays)
• Travel nurses must live at least 100 miles from the facility (exceptions for 50-99.9 miles)

ICU Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, compassionate care to adult neuro ICU patients (stroke, neurosurgery, spine, neuro complications)
• Manage and monitor patients requiring special neuro procedures (EVDs, therapeutic thermoregulation, hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun, ICP monitoring)
• Administer and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, continuous IV sedation/paralytics, and emergency medications
• Perform and assist with procedures: arterial line management, central/PICC line care, lumbar drains, ventilator management
• Interpret ABGs, dysrhythmias, and manage CVA/acute stroke protocols
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (IV, respiratory, physical therapy, pharmacy, rapid response)
• Document patient care accurately using Epic EMR
• Maintain infection prevention and isolation protocols
