The physician is a member of the healthcare team who works in collaboration with other staff to provide comprehensive healthcare services to patients. The scope of practice of each physician is defined through the health systems credentialing and privileging committee.

The Physician supports objectives, budget, and performance metrics at the individual level. Supports all medical activities at the individual level including implementation of quality control standards, risk management, and compliance programs. The role of a physician is to provide quality clinical care to those individuals who have chosen VHC Health in a timely manner to meet the needs of our patients.

Education

Doctorate from an accredited Medical School is required.

Experience

One Year of Medical/Surgical Experience Required.

Certifications/Licensure

Licensed to Practice Medicine by the Virginia Department of Health Professions is required.

Physical Requirements

The work environment involves physical demands such as exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The role may involve bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, twisting, reaching, standing, walking, pushing/pulling, lifting, repetitive motions, and detailed visual tasks. Ability to perform components of Basic Life Support if applicable.

Working Conditions

Works in a well-lighted/ventilated office/clinical setting. Subject to frequent interruptions, long hours, changing shifts, and potential overtime or on-call duties. Routine exposure to infectious diseases, blood borne pathogens, bodily fluids, hazardous chemicals, noxious odors, latex, and musculoskeletal injuries. Use of PPE is required for exposure to blood, body fluids, and infectious processes. Interactions with patients, family members, co-workers, and visitors under various conditions, including hostile or emotionally upset individuals.
