A growing, multi-discipline engineering firm is seeking a mid-level Water Resources Engineer (4–10 years) to join its Virginia Beach, VA team. This role focuses on stormwater management, drainage design, and hydrologic & hydraulic modeling for Virginia transportation and municipal projects , with a clear path toward technical leadership and project management .

Key Responsibilities

• Design drainage systems, stormwater management, and erosion & sediment control plans
• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling (TR-55, TR-20, HEC-RAS, HY-8, HydroCAD, PCSWMM)
• Conduct watershed studies and analyze survey, mapping, and topographic data
• Prepare plans, reports, specifications, and cost estimates
• Coordinate with VDOT, local municipalities, contractors, and consultants
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate across disciplines
• Support construction phase services as needed

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (Water Resources focus, ABET accredited)
• 4–10 years of Water Resources engineering experience
• Professional Engineer (PE) licensed in Virginia or the ability to obtain within 6 months
• Proven experience in stormwater, drainage, and erosion & sediment control design
• Strong knowledge of Virginia stormwater regulations
• Proficiency with MicroStation OpenRoads Designer , HEC-RAS, HY-8, TR-55/TR-20
• Experience managing multiple concurrent design projects
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred (Nice to Have)

• Virginia DEQ Stormwater Management Combined Administrator certification
• Experience with VDOT and Locally Administered Projects (LAP)
• GIS experience
