Java Developer - Active TS/SCI with FSP

Location: Herndon/Chantilly, VA

Clearance Required: TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph (FSP)

Position Type: Full-Time, On-Site

Salary Range: $190,000 – $210,000

We are seeking a skilled  Java Developer  to support the development and deployment of scalable, cloud-native applications for a mission-critical federal program. This position involves full lifecycle software development, from back-end services and API integrations to cloud orchestration and front-end data visualization. The successful candidate will be well-versed in Java development (Spring Boot), AWS cloud environments, containerization, and modern DevOps practices, with the ability to work collaboratively within Agile teams.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with Chief Engineers and Technical Leads to analyze requirements and translate them into user stories and technical tasks.
• Design, develop, and maintain software components across all layers: data layer, application logic, and user interface.
• Build and deploy microservices using Java Spring Boot and Python; containerize using Docker and deploy to AWS environments such as EKS and EC2.
• Develop and manage NiFi workflows and clusters to support data ingestion and transformation processes.
• Integrate Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and DevOps tools to support continuous deployment and cloud orchestration of application components.
• Develop and optimize cloud-native APIs and backend services interfacing with AWS-managed databases (e.g., RDS, Lambdas).
• Utilize Python for data parsing and transformation, particularly using regular expressions and data libraries.
• Apply best practices in AWS cost optimization, cloud security, and deployment strategies.
• Build automated test scripts and integrate security scanning tools into CI/CD pipelines.
• Participate in Agile development ceremonies and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to deliver incremental functionality.

Minimum Qualifications:

• 3–5 years of professional experience in software development, including:
• Java Spring Boot development
• AWS services (Lambda, EC2, EKS, RDS)
• Python programming with experience in regex and parsing
• Experience with Apache NiFi for data workflows and ETL processes
• Experience developing and deploying software within Agile environments
• Proficiency in cloud-based software design, deployment, and infrastructure orchestration
• Ability to work full-time on-site in Herndon/Chantilly, VA
• Active TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph (FSP) is required at the time of application

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and building automated test and security scan integrations
• Familiarity with performance monitoring and logging in containerized Java applications
• Expertise in optimizing Java applications for Kubernetes and containerized environments
• Experience using open-source Python libraries for accelerated development

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship, now or in the future
• Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph (FSP) clearance is required for this role

Compensation:

Salary for this position is determined based on factors such as location, qualifications, experience, and contract-specific budget considerations.
Proposed Salary Range:  $190,000 – $210,000
