Lead Teacher - Two Year Olds
Summary The Lead Teacher is responsible for all aspects of the safety, care and education of the children enrolled in the class. The Lead Teacher develops and implements ongoing, developmentally appropriate activities that promote the cognitive, spiritual, physical, language, social and emotional development of each child enrolled in class using the school curriculum in a safe, nurturing, and quality learning environment. The position is 32.5 hours a week, but additional hours may be added if candidate is interested. Part-Time to Full-Time, 32.5-40 hours per week, $17.00-$20.00/hour Duties ? Ensure the safety of each child enrolled in the class at all times while in your care.
? Plan and implement age and developmentally appropriate classroom practices that will include the areas of physical, emotional, social and cognitive needs of young children using the school curriculum, Streamin3 and Learning Without Tears.
? Maintain regular observation and evaluation of children?s development and progress as directed by administration including maintaining a portfolio for each student.
? Complete lesson plans, goals, and newsletters in a timely fashion.
? Encourage children?s development in the areas of building self-confidence, problem solving, and taking responsibility for their actions.
? Serve as a role model for the children in the areas of attitude, speech and actions on a daily basis and treat each child with dignity and respect for his/her cultural background.
? Nurture positive relationships with families and establish continual communication.
? Accept and maintain responsibility on a daily basis for the ordered arrangement, appearance, d�cor and cleanliness of the learning environment. Requirements ? Must meet Virginia licensure requirements and child care certification as necessary.
? Pragmatic experience in a school setting.
? Maintain confidentiality at all times.
? Ability to perform physical labor as needed for the position.
? Willing to become familiar with licensing standards, rules and regulations in regard to the health and safety of students. Nice To Haves ? Associate or bachelor?s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or a complementary degree is preferred but not required.
