Certified Surgical Technologist II - Main Operating Room | Competitive Pay & Benefits

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Certified Surgical Technologist II to join our Main Operating Room team. This critical healthcare position offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced surgeons and registered nurses in delivering exceptional peri-operative patient care. As a Surgical Tech II, you will play a vital role in maintaining sterile environments, managing surgical instrumentation, and ensuring the highest standards of patient safety in a dynamic surgical setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain sterile surgical fields throughout all operative procedures
• Demonstrate proficiency in correct and safe surgical instrumentation passing techniques
• Perform surgical counts (sponge, needle, and instrument counts) in accordance with facility policies and regulatory standards
• Monitor and ensure the entire surgical team maintains proper sterile technique and aseptic environment
• Collaborate with surgeons, registered nurses, anesthesiologists, and healthcare team members to deliver quality patient-centered care
• Apply basic to intermediate knowledge of surgical instrumentation across various surgical specialties
• Participate actively in the nursing process for patients across all age groups
• Adhere strictly to facility policies, procedures, regulatory standards, and National Patient Safety Goals
• Engage in ongoing unit educational activities and professional development opportunities

Required Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; successful completion of an accredited Surgical Technology training program required
• Certification: Current credential as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or successor organization required
• Alternative Qualification: Completion of surgical technology training program during service in any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces accepted
• Licensure: LPN licensure required for grandfathered employees only
• Professional Registration: Must obtain and maintain registration with the Virginia Department of Health Professions
• Life Support Certification: American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (AHA BLS-HCP) required upon hire or within orientation period
• Experience: Entry-level candidates welcome; previous OR experience preferred but not required
