Job Title: Phlebotomist

Job Description

The primary role of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various tasks including troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. This position involves collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures and ensuring accurate record-keeping.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge specimens.
• Record maintenance data and decontaminate equipment.
• Update patient information and explain the venipuncture process to patients.
• Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles.
• Understand and follow physicians' orders accurately.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Check test requisitions or computer labels for accuracy.
• Package specimens for transport and store them at required temperatures.
• Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual department trainings.
• Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results to callers.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vienna, VA.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Vienna,VA.
