Day in the Life
When trucks roll into our Fishersville, VA yard each morning, you’re the welcoming face that gets everything moving. You’ll guide drivers through drop-off, capture precise weights, and complete clean, accurate transactions—all while keeping the scale lane flowing smoothly. By afternoon, you’ve answered pricing questions, logged inventory movements, and collaborated with the yard crew to keep operations efficient and safe.
What You’ll Handle- Welcome customers and direct them through the scrap metal drop-off process.
- Operate the scale to record accurate inbound and outbound weights.
- Process payments (cash, credit, debit) and issue receipts with zero discrepancies.
- Maintain meticulous transaction logs, scale tickets, and inventory records.
- Explain current pricing and company services in a clear, friendly manner.
- Keep the scale house and nearby areas clean, organized, and presentable.
- Partner with teammates to ensure steady traffic flow and on-time service.
- Troubleshoot and resolve customer questions or issues promptly.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in cashiering or customer service (preferred).
- Solid math skills and confidence handling cash.
- Strong communication and people skills.
- Ability to stay composed and productive in a fast-paced setting.
- Keen attention to detail and strong organization.
- Comfort with computers and standard software/POS tools.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in varying weather.
