Position Title: Information Technology Operations Manager
Virginia Tech Foundation, Inc. (VTF) is a nonstock corporation established in 1948 for the sole purpose of managing Virginia Tech’s endowment and real estate portfolio, now valued at $2.8 billion. VTF exists and operates as a separate, independent entity with its own officers and governing board – managing, investing, and distributing private resources to advance Virginia Tech’s mission and its strategic priorities. VTF’s wholly owned for-profit subsidiary, Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center, Inc., is a research park that catalyzes commercialization and industry collaboration.
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Managing Director of Information Technology (IT), the IT Operations Manager will leverage their understanding of IT operations to play a crucial role in managing and coordinating the daily operations of the IT department. Some tasks the IT Operations Manager will manage are compliance efforts, inventory tracking, procurements, payments, support tickets, on/offboarding, calendars, training, and hardware replacement cycles.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative support to the IT department.
- Monitor and route IT support requests.
- Coordinate and participate in IT security training.
- Coordinate and participate in IT productivity software training.
- Coordinate IT policy and procedure reviews.
- Coordinate periodic IT compliance tasks and exercises.
- Process payments and manage IT procurement.
- Monitor IT security scans and reports and coordinate responses as needed.
- Monitor nightly data quality reports and work with data stewards to mitigate issues.
- Help author and send departmental communications.
- Manage IT hardware and software inventory databases.
- Coordinate and manage new software demos.
- Coordinate new employee IT onboarding and offboarding.
- Track ongoing IT projects and participate in project meetings.
- Manage IT equipment surplus and disposal.
- Manage IT departmental calendar and coordinate scheduling.
- Facilitate account and security provisioning and review.
- Work with departments to coordinate data gathering on certain state and federal filings (1099, Unclaimed Property).
- Monitor hardware aging and replacements on a predetermined cycle.
- Act as liaison to service providers and facilitate service provisioning.
- Assists curating documents and metadata in departmental document libraries.
Qualifications:
- Associate's degree or higher in Information Technology, Business Administration or a related field.
- Three (3) or more years of experience in IT operations.
- Solid understanding of general IT operations and functions.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently
- Ability to work collaboratively with IT professionals and other departments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office365 and Windows.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with ServiceNow and Microsoft SharePoint a plus.
