Bus Driver

- Works effectively with all the Activity Coordinators in implementing scheduled bus trips. Reviews trip plans in advance to ensure safety of all in attendance.
- Completes a detailed safety check on the vehicle which is scheduled to transport residents/staff. Pre and post safety checks are completed.
- Reports any mechanical or physical vehicle issues to the Transportation Coordinator and/or Director of Resident Programs & Services in a timely manner.
- Maintains a record of the bus trip and the number of residents and guests in attendance on the trip. Submits the record to the Transportation Coordinator immediately after the trip.
- Reviews extraordinary occurrences with the Transportation Coordinator and/or the Director of Resident Programs & Services on a regular basis.
- Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability without displaying frustrations to residents, family members, guests and/or employees.
- Submits reports as requested by the Transportation Coordinator, Director of Resident Programs & Services or other Administrative personnel.
- Maintains the confidentiality of all resident or employee personal information.
- Demonstrates a positive, supportive attitude to residents, employees, family members and guests at all times.
- Observes the Residents’ Rights and Responsibilities at all times.
- Maintain an unencumbered driving record.
- Maintain a Commercial Class driver’s license (CDL).
- Experience providing transportation to the following levels of care: Independent Living, Assisted Living, Health Care and Memory Support.
- Ability to establish direct and alternative bus routes for scheduled trips.
- Ability to coordinate all other areas of travel involvement; directions, travel time, bus parking options, tolls, drop-off and pick-up locations, etc.
- Ability to provide safety checks on vehicles prior to and following scheduled trips.
- Ability to understand resident’s limitations and effectively develop alternative solutions which meet the needs of residents, in all levels of care in order to board and exit the vehicles in a safe manner.
- Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English.
- Ability to demonstrate computer skills, as assigned.
- Ability to effectively communicate with residents, employees, family members and guests.
- Certification in CPR.
