Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Emergency Department position at a general ED with combined adult and pediatric skills, requiring ACLS, BLS, PALS, and at least 1 year of ED experience.

Details

• General Emergency Department setting with combined adult and pediatric patient population
• Non-trauma ED with access to stroke-certified and STEMI-certified facility resources
• Night shift (7p–7a), 3x12-hour shifts
• Every other weekend required
• 13-week contract
• Meditech is the charting system used; experience required
• Patient cases may include CVA, cardiac dysrhythmias, pediatric emergencies, and other critically ill or injured presentations

Requirements

• Active RN license (VA or Compact) currently in hand
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, CPI, NIHSS, and PALS; TNCC preferred
• Minimum 1 year of ED experience required
• Meditech experience required
• Proficiency in EKG interpretation and dysrhythmia management, blood product administration, IV therapy, triage, CVA care, and PPE/isolation precautions
• Arterial line management, central line care, BiPAP/CPAP management, ABG interpretation, IV sedation/vasopressors, procedural sedation, and trauma case experience are preferred
• Candidates must not have worked permanently at this facility within the past 24 months
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted

Additional Information

• Provides 24/7 emergency care to critically ill and injured patients in a private-room ED environment with modern monitoring equipment
• RN orientation is held every other Monday; start dates are tied to this schedule
• Holiday coverage is expected: one holiday worked if one falls in the assignment, one of two if two fall, two of three if three fall; any requested time off must be disclosed prior to placement
• Facility has a zero-tolerance policy for THC; medical marijuana cards are not accepted, and drug screening is conducted both during compliance and on Day 1
• Fit testing is required; candidates must be clean-shaven for fit testing or provide an approved medical exemption letter from Employee Health Services prior to starting
• Travel experience preferred but may be waived depending on overall ED experience
