Construction Inspector - Roofing
Position Title: General Inspector (Roofing System & Installation)
Location: Culpeper, VA
Salary: $90,000 - $110,000 per year plus benefits
Summary
The Multi-Trade Building Construction & Renovation Inspector is responsible for overseeing, coordinating, and performing field inspections across multiple trades, with a strong emphasis on roofing systems and installation. This role ensures construction and renovation projects meet all contract requirements, building codes, and safety standards. The inspector will provide detailed reports, verify workmanship and materials, and support project teams in delivering quality results on time and within scope.
Key Responsibilities
Schedule, coordinate, and conduct general field inspections across all construction disciplines, including roofing, structural, electrical, mechanical, and finishing trades.
Perform specialized inspections of roofing systems to confirm compliance with manufacturer specifications, contract documents, and applicable codes.
Inspect construction and renovation work at job sites to verify quality, safety, and compliance.
Recommend acceptance or rejection of materials and workmanship, with special attention to roofing and weatherproofing.
Monitor labor standards, OSHA requirements, and site safety practices.
Maintain accurate inspection documentation, including defect reports, omissions, and corrective action records.
Utilize construction management software such as E-Builder to track inspection activity, compliance, and progress reporting.
Collaborate with contractors, engineers, roofing specialists, and project managers to resolve issues and keep projects on schedule.
Qualifications
Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience in building construction and renovation inspection, including roofing system inspection and installation oversight.
Education: Associate’s degree in a construction-related field, trade school completion, or equivalent certification (requirement may be waived for candidates with 10+ years in a similar inspection role).
Certifications: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Quality Control Management (QCM) Certification; OSHA 30-hour Safety Certification required.
