We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Steel Estimator to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in our construction operations, focusing specifically on miscellaneous steel projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in steel and miscellaneous metals, and a proven track record in project estimation. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is looking to leverage their skills and experience in a fast-paced, innovative environment. Responsibilities:
As a Permanent Steel Estimator, you will be responsible for a range of tasks, including: 1. Analyzing blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
2. Assessing cost effectiveness of products, projects or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops.
3. Consulting with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments or construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
4. Conducting special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost data or to effect cost reduction.
5. Reviewing material and labor requirements to decide whether it is more cost-effective to produce or purchase components.
6. Preparing estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors.
7. Accurately inputting costs for proposals and performing an accurate and detailed estimate from drawings for small to large miscellaneous metal projects. Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you will need: 1. A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Steel Estimator or in a similar role in the construction industry.
2. Extensive knowledge and experience with steel and miscellaneous metals.
3. Proficiency in blueprint reading and project estimation.
4. The ability to determine material and labor costs accurately.
5. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
6. Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
7. A keen eye for detail and a results-driven approach.
8. Proficiency in using computer software for developing estimates.
9. A degree in a relevant field is preferred.
