LHH Recruitment Solutions is assisting a well-established organization in the Richmond area with the search for an Executive Director of Accounting . This is a unique leadership opportunity within a collaborative office where the selected professional will oversee accounting functions while also supporting operational and organizational initiatives.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety in their day, balancing accounting oversight, office leadership, and organizational coordination in a stable, mission-driven environment.

Executive Director - Accounting & Operations

Richmond, VA area | 100% In Office
Salary: $100,000 - $125,000
Schedule: Monday - Friday, daytime hours (37.5-hour work week)

What You'll Be Doing

Accounting & Financial Oversight
  • Oversee daily accounting activities including invoicing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and banking transactions
  • Review financial records and support financial reporting and documentation
  • Assist with budgeting and financial planning processes
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure sound financial practices
Operations & Office Leadership
  • Manage day-to-day office operations for a small professional team
  • Provide guidance and support to staff while maintaining efficient administrative processes
  • Coordinate with outside vendors, consultants, and service providers
  • Maintain company records, documentation, and internal procedures
Organizational & Leadership Support
  • Partner closely with leadership to support strategic initiatives and organizational goals
  • Assist with internal communications and coordination across the organization
  • Help prepare reports, meeting materials, and internal documentation
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience in accounting, finance, operations management, or nonprofit administration
  • Comfortable working in a small team environment where leaders wear multiple hats
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Excel
Nice to Have
  • Experience working with nonprofits, associations, or mission-driven organizations
  • Familiarity with ERP or accounting systems
