Bechtel is the licensing, engineering, procurement, and construction partner on TerraPower's Natrium team. Selected by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for its Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program, Natrium is participating in a DOE initiative to re-establish U.S. leadership in nuclear energy that provides matching funding to industry to design and build an operational advanced reactor. TerraPower, a leading advanced generation technology company founded by former Microsoft CEO Bill Gates, will be deploying its 345 MWe sodium fast reactor (SFR), called Natrium. The Natrium plant features an advanced, cost-competitive reactor design that is safer, simpler, easier, and less costly to construct, less expensive to operate, and able to provide energy that is competitive with fossil fuels. It also features an innovative molten salt energy storage system designed to be complementary to solar and wind power by evening out the peaks and valleys in production when the sun is not shining or the wind is not blowing. With the reactor and energy storage output combined, the plant can produce more than 500 MWe of power. Other Team Natrium partners include GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy, Energy Northwest, PacifiCorp, and Duke Energy, along with support from a number of national laboratories and universities. This DOE Program has the potential to be the largest funding program for advanced nuclear power in U.S. history and will shape the future of nuclear energy for decades. Job Summary:

The Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) Engineer is responsible for implementation of tools that manage the information delivery for the project and evaluates alignment with the Project Information Model (PIM). This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership. #LI-SB1

Major Responsibilities:

• Supports cross-functional coordination and methods of integration in alignment with NS&E's Data Centric Project Delivery Program, including, but not limited to, 3D Model Development, 4D Integrated Schedule, Common Data Environment (CDE) alignment, and 5D Integrated Cost.
• Supports an innovative culture on project.
• Ensures the implementation of the Project Information Model (PIM) for use across each stage of the project.
• Works closely with the functional teams to understand the information requirements (both graphical and non-graphical) and implements the VDC Execution Plan to meet those needs.
• Coordinates with engineering design and construction contractors, and participates in meetings/discussion, with respect to VDC.
• Receives and understands the client information requirements and supports development of asset information requirements.
• Supports the implementation of the Project Information Model for use across each stage of the project.
• Ensures adequate training is provided on the use of VDC and associated tools to assist its deployment, including engagement with off-project subject matter experts.
• Champions VDC innovation across the project by establishing a culture for ideas and improvement opportunities to be raised, considered, and implemented. Continually seeks ways in which the PIM can be utilized to support the project and drive efficiency in processes.
• Leads the implementation of project visualizations, including 3D model renderings, fly-throughs, and 4D Construction sequence visualizations.
• Leads the implementation of Virtual Reality / Augmented Reality applications for the project.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Level 1

• Requires bachelor's degree with 1-2 years of experience or 5-6 years of relevant work experience.
• US Citizen or Permanent Resident (Green Card holder).

Level 2

• Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience.
• US Citizen or Permanent Resident (Green Card holder).

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Experience with creating project visualizations using the plant 3D model.
• Experience with plant 3D model coordination tools (i.e., Navisworks, Universal Plant Viewer, Twinmotion, etc.)
• Experience working within Engineering, Contracts, Procurement, and Construction or a strong project-led understanding of cross-functional project delivery work processes.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to explain new work processes and technologies to all levels of the organization.
• Hands on experience with the implementation and delivery of enterprise-wide collaboration BIM solutions such as CDE, Aconex, P6, Synchro, and SmartPlant to facilitate design coordination, schedule simulation, progress tracking, and construction packaging.
• Experience with design authoring tools (i.e., Revit, Civil3D, Microstation, AutoCAD, OpenRoads/InRoads, ESRi, Smart 3D, etc.)
• Demonstration of implementation and deployment of innovation solutions on project.
