Responsibilities:

• Conducts State Safety and Emissions Inspections ethically, adhering to all Virginia State Police, Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), and company guidelines.
• Ability to work in a busy shop with a positive attitude and team spirit.
• Examine critical vehicle components, including brakes, lights, tires, and steering, to ensure compliance with Virginia state safety standards.
• Use specialized equipment to test vehicle emissions and determine compliance with state environmental regulations.
• Approve and certify vehicles that pass inspections or provide rejection notices for those that fail.
• Document inspection results, test data, and any necessary repairs in compliance with state requirements.
• Communicate with vehicle owners about required repairs, safety concerns, and next steps for compliance.
• Ensure that all inspections comply with Virginia state laws and workplace safety guidelines.

Qualifications:

• Must hold a valid Virginia State Safety Inspector License issued by the Virginia State Police.
• One must hold a Virginia Emissions Inspector Certification issued by the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) to perform emissions inspections.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in automotive repair or vehicle inspection is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of Virginia state vehicle safety and emissions regulations.
• Ability to operate diagnostic and emissions testing equipment.
• Attention to detail and ability to complete accurate inspection reports.
• Strong communication skills are essential for interacting with customers and clearly explaining inspection results.
• Must be 18 or older and authorized to work in the United States.
• Valid Driver's license and clean driving record.
• Maintain a professional appearance, friendly customer service, and a positive attitude.
• Being bilingual is a plus!
