Virginia State Safety and Emissions Inspector

- Conducts State Safety and Emissions Inspections ethically, adhering to all Virginia State Police, Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), and company guidelines.
- Ability to work in a busy shop with a positive attitude and team spirit.
- Examine critical vehicle components, including brakes, lights, tires, and steering, to ensure compliance with Virginia state safety standards.
- Use specialized equipment to test vehicle emissions and determine compliance with state environmental regulations.
- Approve and certify vehicles that pass inspections or provide rejection notices for those that fail.
- Document inspection results, test data, and any necessary repairs in compliance with state requirements.
- Communicate with vehicle owners about required repairs, safety concerns, and next steps for compliance.
- Ensure that all inspections comply with Virginia state laws and workplace safety guidelines.
- Must hold a valid Virginia State Safety Inspector License issued by the Virginia State Police.
- One must hold a Virginia Emissions Inspector Certification issued by the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) to perform emissions inspections.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in automotive repair or vehicle inspection is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of Virginia state vehicle safety and emissions regulations.
- Ability to operate diagnostic and emissions testing equipment.
- Attention to detail and ability to complete accurate inspection reports.
- Strong communication skills are essential for interacting with customers and clearly explaining inspection results.
- Must be 18 or older and authorized to work in the United States.
- Valid Driver's license and clean driving record.
- Maintain a professional appearance, friendly customer service, and a positive attitude.
- Being bilingual is a plus!
