Position Title: Senior Billing Specialist

Location: Tysons, VA (Hybrid – 3 days on-site, 2 days remote)

Assignment type: Contract (3+ months)

Compensation: $35 – $45 / Hour

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Job Description:

We are seeking a Senior Billing Specialist to join our client’s finance team on a contract basis. This role will focus on supporting billing and revenue operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance across assigned contracts. The ideal candidate will bring experience working with government contracts and a strong understanding of billing processes, accounts receivable, and revenue recognition.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and issue invoices and credit memos in a timely and accurate manner.
• Oversee billing and collections for assigned contracts.
• Monitor funding requirements, track status, and coordinate with internal teams to ensure timely funding adjustments.
• Perform contract reconciliations and support contract closures.
• Partner with project managers, contracts, accounting, and leadership to ensure billing aligns with customer and contract requirements.
• Manage accounts receivable and follow up with customers regarding unpaid invoices.
• Support month-end and year-end close activities to ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls.
• Assist with ad-hoc reporting and special projects as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3+ years of accounting experience, with a focus on billing, revenue recognition, and GAAP compliance.
• Prior experience with government contracts (required).
• Strong Excel and Microsoft Office Suite skills.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
• Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident, or Protected Individual).

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with ERP or billing systems such as Microsoft Dynamics SL.
• Familiarity with entering invoices into government or commercial portals (e.g., WAWF, IPP, Exostar).
