The Impact Finance & Markets division at The Nature Conservancy (TNC) provides technical and strategic leadership to create transformational impact with the private sector by translating the value of nature and conservation approaches into actionable, science-based strategies that can help solve societal challenges. The Associate Director of Development, Impact Finance & Markets (IFM), will play a key role in expanding philanthropic support for some of The Nature Conservancy's most innovative conservation initiatives. Working closely with IFM leadership, fundraisers across TNC, and program teams around the world, you will help identify, cultivate, and steward donors interested in advancing solutions at the intersection of conservation, finance, and markets.

In this role, you will build and manage a portfolio of individual, foundation, and corporate prospects while helping grow the pipeline of philanthropic support for IFM priorities. You will lead donor discovery efforts, develop and execute prospect strategies, and deepen relationships with existing supporters to create new opportunities for engagement and investment in conservation.

You will partner with colleagues across the Conservancy to develop compelling proposals, coordinate donor strategies, and connect donor interests with high-impact conservation solutions. By building strong internal partnerships and engaging donors around IFM's work, you will help secure the resources needed to advance conservation outcomes around the world.

The Associate Director of Development reports to the Director of Capital Raising for IFM. The position may be based in any country with an establish TNC office, within 5 hours of Eastern Time.

We're Looking for You:

The Nature Conservancy is seeking a collaborative and motivated fundraising professional to join the Impact Finance & Markets (IFM) Capital Raising team. You enjoy building relationships, identifying new opportunities, and connecting donor interests with meaningful conservation outcomes.

You are a strong communicator who can build trust with donors and colleagues alike. You are comfortable working across teams, managing multiple priorities, and navigating a complex, matrixed organization. You bring experience developing donor relationships and advancing fundraising strategies, while also maintaining a strong focus on stewardship and long-term engagement.

You are curious and eager to learn. You're excited by innovative approaches to conservation and interested in how tools such as carbon markets, impact investing, corporate engagement, and other market-based solutions can help scale conservation impact. While you do not need to be a technical expert from day one, you are comfortable learning complex topics, translating them into compelling donor conversations, and helping connect philanthropic support to innovative conservation work.

Most importantly, you are excited to partner with colleagues across the Conservancy to secure the resources needed to advance TNC's mission and support conservation outcomes at scale.

What You'll Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree and 6 years related experience or an equivalent combination.
  • Experience building and maintaining long-term relationships with fundraising constituents.
  • Experience in asking for and closing gifts of $50,000 or more.
  • Experience in managing and tracking multiple prospects and donors.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, preferably in a large non-profit.
  • Experience working with fundraising principles and practices.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated.
  • Ability to design and manage fundraising plans, including individualized cultivation, solicitation and recognition plans.
  • Ability to determine an individual's interests, capacity and potential for helping the Conservancy meet its goals, and act appropriately to tie those interests with the Conservancy's work.
  • Demonstrated experience using listening, diplomacy and tact to build strong relationships and motivate donors and volunteers.
  • Proven ability to negotiate complex, high profile or sensitive agreements.
Salary Information:

This position may be based in any country where TNC has an established entity, taking into consideration legal restrictions, such as non-national ratios and immigration processing times. For U.S. based applicants only, the starting pay range for this position is generally within the range of $95,000- $125,000 for annual base salary and is based on location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA.

For all other applicants, pay ranges will be in local currency, the pay range will be based on the local labor market, and not tied to the above pay range. Your geographic location will be confirmed during the recruitment and used to determine your actual pay range. Additionally, for all applicants, actual pay will fall within a range based on a variety of factors including, for example, the candidate's qualifications, specific skills, and experience.
