Founded in 2009, United Welding, LLC is a full-service welding and fabrication contractor based in Fredericksburg, VA. We specialize in structural steel, process piping, and custom metalwork, serving industrial and commercial clients throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. Our team is made up of ASME-certified welders and skilled fabricators who deliver high-quality work both in the shop and in the field. About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Estimator to join our team. The Estimator is responsible for analyzing project documents, performing accurate take-offs, and preparing competitive cost estimates in a timely manner. This role also involves providing a detailed project turnover to the project management team once work is awarded.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and analyze plans, specifications, and contract terms to determine scope of work and identify risks

• Perform quantity take-offs and input bid information into estimating software/templates

• Prepare estimates by entering material, labor, subcontractor/vendor pricing, and equipment costs

• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor quotations for compliance with plans and scope of work

• Draft detailed scopes of work in proposal templates, including inclusions and exclusions

• Participate in pre-bid, bid review, and pre-construction meetings

• Build and maintain positive relationships with customers, subcontractors, vendors, and team members

• Provide estimating and change order support during project execution, as needed

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant experience; background in metal fabrication preferred but not required

• Strong ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and contract documents

• Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks

• Strong math skills (algebra, geometry, and basic arithmetic)

• Proficiency in generating detailed, accurate proposals

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Critical thinker and problem solver with effective interpersonal skills

• Knowledge of shop fabrication, production, and construction methods for structural and miscellaneous metals a plus

• Must pass post-offer pre-employment drug screening; additional background checks may be required (e.g., DMV, criminal history)
