Transportation/Traffic Engineer

Join our dynamic Transportation team in Reston, Virginia and play a key role in redefining how people and goods move. As a Transportation/Traffic Engineer , you’ll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of roadway designers, traffic engineers, planners, and operations experts to deliver innovative, multimodal solutions that improve safety, efficiency, and sustainability.
What You’ll Do:
•Lead traffic engineering and transportation planning projects focused on intersections, freeways, and arterial corridors.
•Conduct traffic operations and safety studies using tools like Synchro, VISSIM, and HCM/HSM methodologies.
•Develop traffic control devices, traffic signal design, signing and pavement marking design, plans, specifications, and estimates for traffic designs incorporating traffic engineering requirements into rodaway plans and
•Preparing plans using design software such as CADD, OpenRoads Designer, and MicroStation.
•Prepare and present high-quality technical reports to clients in both virtual and in-person settings.
•Apply a multimodal lens to every project—accounting for pedestrians, cyclists, transit users, and drivers across diverse environments.

Here's what you'll need
•Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field.
•EIT certification
•Experience in traffic engineering and analysis, preferably 4-6 years' experience.
•Hands-on experience with Synchro, VISSIM, HCS, Sidra, or similar tools.
•Proven ability to lead on-call tasks and collaborate with VDOT and other clients.
•Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ideally, you'll also have
•Professional Engineer (PE) license in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
•PTOE certification
Posted Salary Range: Minimum
85,000.00
Posted Salary Range: Upper
120,000.00

The base salary range for this position is $85,000.00 to $120,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
