Travel RN Job Details

• Assignment Type: Locum tenens (Travel Registered Nurse)
• Location: Roanoke, VA 24013 (Virginia healthcare jobs)
• Unit: Inpatient Physical Rehab (Med/Surg)
• Duration: 13-week contract (option to extend up to 26 weeks)
• Shift: 3x12-hour night shifts (18:45 – 07:15); 4x12 available upon request
• Weekly Hours: 36 (option for 48 by request)
• Start Date: August 25, 2025
• Patient Ratio: Typically 5-7:1
• Charting System: Epic EMR
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1800–$1840 per week

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Virginia or compact state)
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg nursing experience required
• BLS certification required
• CPI Blue and CRRN certifications preferred (not required)
• COVID-19 and Flu vaccinations required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Ability to float to nearby Med/Surg units as needed
• Must reside more than 100 miles from facility (exceptions for 50-99.9 miles; see details)
• Experience with Epic charting preferred

Travel RN Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a 33-bed Med/Surg inpatient rehab unit
• Care for a diverse patient population, including SCVA, SCI, TBI, amputee, and multi-trauma diagnoses
• Utilize rapid response teams, peripheral line care, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oxygen therapy, and isolation precautions
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (PT, RT, pharmacy, radiology, social services)
• Float to other Med/Surg units within the hospital as needed
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation using Epic EMR
• Participate in self-scheduling and work at least one holiday per 13-week assignment (two during winter holidays)
