Maintenance Technician - Facilities
The Maintenance Technician will report to the Facilities and Maintenance Supervisor. The main purpose of the Maintenance Technician is to support facility infrastructure needs such as HVAC, electrical engineering, EHS, energy, maintenance, and capital project execution. This individual is a hands-on self-starter who enjoys the challenges of daily involvement with operations, manufacturing and maintenance with experience performing preventative and corrective maintenance services for commercial buildings. Responsibilities:
- Plans, schedules, and ensures execution of the maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment.
- Effectively manages facility work order queue, provides prompt response, communicates a reliable timeline for completion and ensures deadlines are met.
- Performs regular facility and equipment inspections and ensures appropriate corrective actions are taken.
- Performs inter-office moves, modifications, etc.
- Responds to facility and equipment alarms and system failures.
- Performs and/or oversees electrical and mechanical work as needed.
- Inspects public and common areas for safety, cleanliness, compliance, and operation. Fixes issues and implements corrective action plans to prevent recurrence.
- Performs other operations and maintenance activities as assigned.
- Review and monitoring of current processes to optimize efficiency.
- Troubleshooting any issues with the plant utility systems.
- Responsibility to ensure plant utility systems meet internal standards and external regulatory requirements.
- Spots and rectifies performance issues of equipment during walk around.
- Executes Lock out Tag Out procedures.
- Communicates and cooperates with operations before, during and after repairs.
- Applies structured fault-finding procedures.
- Participates in Root cause analysis.
- Performs or executes 5S in Maintenance work areas.
- Registers break down work orders in CMMS & Redzone. Defines follow-up work.
- 2-4 years of related experience in a facility of at least 50,000 square feet required.
- 2-4 years of experience in the following areas: facility maintenance and repair, manufacturing equipment maintenance and repair.
- Knowledge of repairing complex mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems preferred.
- Familiarity with state and local building and fire codes, and inspection processes.
- After-hours/weekend/ holiday availability is essential (Critical system maintenance is performed during off-hours). Requires working flexible schedules.
- Blend of corporate offices, manufacturing facility and warehousing.
- Must be able to lift to 50 pounds on a regular basis
- Must be able to climb and work on a ladder
- Must be able to balance, stoop, kneel, and crawl on occasion
- Some exposure to heat, noise, and electricity
- Extensive travel to the corporate office in California will be required in the first few months for training purposes

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
- This position is based in Rocky Mount, VA and is onsite Monday through Friday supporting a three-shift operation.
- Remote candidates will not be considered for this role.
- Starting at $28.00 an hour
