About the Role

As a Communications Specialist, you will play a key role in shaping and delivering communications that support collective bargaining goals and broader organizational initiatives. You will work closely with leadership teams to develop and execute impactful communication strategies that engage key audiences.

This role involves creating compelling content, managing media relations, and leveraging multiple communication channels—including social media, email, video, and digital advertising—to amplify important messages. You'll also support pilot groups during high-priority negotiations, special events, and campaigns that require additional resources.

What You'll Do

Develop and implement strategic communications plans to support organizational goals.
Craft engaging content for various channels, including press releases, social media, email campaigns, web content, and print materials.
Build awareness and support for key initiatives through media relations, advertising, and digital outreach.
Partner with leadership teams to determine the best communication strategies for specific goals.
Manage projects effectively, ensuring deadlines and deliverables are met.
Provide tactical communication support during high-impact initiatives such as negotiations and special events.
Monitor and analyze communication efforts to optimize effectiveness.

What We're Looking For

Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.
5+ years of experience in a communications role, preferably in advocacy, labor relations, or aviation.

Skills & Abilities:

Exceptional writing and editing skills with keen attention to detail.
Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to simplify complex topics for a broad audience.
Proficiency in managing social media, PR campaigns, and digital advertising.
Experience with video production and multimedia storytelling.
Strong project management skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
Familiarity with desktop publishing, web content management, and design tools is a plus.

Software knowledge: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint; basic video/audio editing; experience with Adobe Creative Suite is a bonus.

Location: Tysons (McLean), VA (Partial remote work available)
Travel: 10-20% (local)
Salary Range: $75,522 - $107,889 (based on experience)
