What You’ll Do:- Construction Engineering and Inspection services for linear transportation projects, sidewalk/walkway projects, and/or bridge projects.
- Stormwater Inspection services for stormwater management (SWM), best management practice (BMP), low impact design (LID), and green infrastructure (GI) facilities.
- Stormwater Inspection services for stormwater conveyance channels and storm structures.
- Construction oversight inspections for SWM/BMP facility retrofit projects, stream restoration projects, and/or outfall stabilizations.
- Erosion and Sediment Control (ESC), Virginia Stormwater Management Permit (VSMP), and Stormwater Pollution. Prevention Plan (SWPPP) inspections for a multitude of project types and sizes.
- Post-Inspection processing of inspection photos, forms, and field measurements
- Preparation of inspection reports.
- Oversee, inspect, and monitor contractual field work which includes earthwork, drainage, structures, pavement, and incidental construction.
- Communication and coordination with the project contractor and job superintendent.
- Pay item verification and coordination.
- Oversee and enforce installation and maintenance of erosion and sediment controls and safety devices.
- Ensure construction is in accordance with project plans and specifications.
- Maintain project records.
- High school diploma.
- Working skills in operating computer equipment, software programs, and field inspection equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Effective communication skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability and willingness to work outdoors year-round in various weather conditions and rugged terrain.
- Ability to complete and pass a criminal background check.
- Valid Virginia Driver’s License.
- Associate's degree in a related field.
- Virginia DEQ Inspector certifications (ESC, SWIN, DEW, ESIN and/or Dual Inspector) preferred.
- Familiarity with GIS platforms and mobile data collection (Collector, Field Maps, and/or Survey123).
