Job Summary

Galapagos is seeking a Senior Cloud Architect / Chief Engineer whose primary function will be to work supporting Department of Defense (DOD), Headquarters United States Air Force, and MTSI Operations.

The position will provide direct cloud engineering support to the Air Force acquisition community throughout the system development lifecycle (SDLC)

The candidate will provide cybersecurity and architecture expertise for a modern cloud computing environment. The candidate will build new cloud-based environments for DoD cloud initiatives and guide legacy systems migration to a modern platform and assisting with the adoption.

The candidate must be able to design enterprise and systems security throughout the development life cycle; translate technology and environmental conditions into security designs and processes.

The candidate must be able to design and develop security requirements that mitigate risk while maintaining operational capability.

The candidate should be able to verify architecture against program requirements and goals to include participating in technical discussions, trade studies and working groups, and conducting research on industry best practices for potential implementation and be able to interface with program managers to explain security goals and mitigations relative to their priorities of cost and schedule.

Job Requirements:

Skills / Experience Required

• 10+ years of technical architect and team leadership experience
• Handle data of high volume, velocity and variety (Big Data: Hadoop, NiFi, Spark, PySpark, Dask, etc.)
• Experience in application migration
• Ability to design and manage Google Cloud Platform (GCP) solutions
• Proficiency in designing, developing, and managing GCP solutions using industry best practices
• Demonstrate a depth and breadth of knowledge across Red Hat technologies
• Advise stakeholders and translate business requirements into secure, scalable, and reliable cloud solutions
• Implement solutions

Education / Certifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, or related engineering discipline.

• Master's degree in related discipline is desired
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect
• Red Hat Certified Architect (RHCA)
• Google Professional Cloud Architect
• Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert

Security Clearance

Must be a U.S. Citizen. A high-level Department of Defense (DoD) active security clearance may be required. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to government information.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time and typing and reading from a computer screen. Must have enough mobility, including bending, reaching, and kneeling, to complete daily duties in a prompt and efficient manner and may include lifting thirty (30) pounds, as necessary.
