Ready to use your accounting expertise to make a real-world impact? Our client, a company dedicated to reducing waste, is looking for a proactive Senior Staff Accountant to join our team. In this role, you'll be a key player, working closely to elevate their accounting department.

Status: Temporary (3-4 weeks), potential to go temp-to-hire
Location: Sterling, VA
Schedule: Mon-Fri, 8:00a-5:00p (30 min break)
Pay rate: $38.46/hour ($80K annually)

Responsibilities:

• Drive the monthly and annual close process, create and present monthly financial reports, and manage cash flow.

• Take ownership of accounting systems, streamline business processes, and strengthen internal controls.

• Ensure all financial reports are error-free and maintain accurate general ledgers. You'll also be responsible for ensuring compliance with all US-GAAP and HR regulations.

• Manage task such as conducting annual budget and external audits. You will also oversee inventory bookkeeping and research any discrepancies.

• Work cooperatively with the rest of the accounting team, offering input and support where needed.

• Manage all bookkeeping tasks and maintain accurate ledgers.

• Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.

• Handle payroll and benefits processing.

• Review bank deposits and reconcile account balances.

• Provide support for special projects as assigned by the Financial Controller.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of accounting experience, with a preference for inventory accounting.

• Proven experience with external audits and budget management.

• Proficiency with QuickBooks, intercompany accounting, and various business software packages.

• Advanced Excel skills are a must.

• A fast learner with an inquisitive mind who can work quickly in a fast-paced environment.

• In-depth knowledge of auditing and accounting procedures.

• An aptitude for numbers, strong quantitative skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

• Strong social skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.

• A reliable, honest, and trustworthy team player who is flexible, collaborative, and communicative.

• A Bachelor's degree in Accounting (preferred), Finance, or Economics.
