Lead Crew Member - Street Sanitation

Starting Salary: $41,872
Join our team to lead and supervise a group of laborers in street sanitation. As a Lead Crew Member, you'll ensure the smooth operation of our city's essential services.
- Assist the Crew Leader in directing daily operations and ensuring work area safety.
- Prepare reports and maintain logs of activities.
- Oversee or participate in equipment cleaning and preventive maintenance.
- Operate or supervise the operation of various trucks and heavy equipment.
- Drive street sanitation vehicles, including street sweepers, water, trash, dump, and recycling trucks.
- Assist with tree removal and debris cleanup after storms.
- Direct traffic during road work and clean-up jobs.
- Provide guidance to lost or stranded visitors and citizens.
- Remove deceased animals from streets.
- Train other employees in equipment use.
- Collaborate with the Clean Community Commission on projects.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Three (3) years of experience in public works maintenance and repair, or equivalent education and experience.
Special Requirements:
- Traffic Control and Flagging license from the Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Transportation.
- Pesticide Applicator License.
- Certified Aerial Lift Operator.
- CPR, Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and First Aid Certifications.
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License.
