Position Overview

The Superintendent is responsible for leading field operations for large-scale multifamily and commercial construction projects throughout the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia) region. This role oversees all jobsite activities from mobilization through project closeout, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

The Superintendent serves as the on-site leader, coordinating subcontractors, managing daily operations, and working closely with Project Managers and stakeholders to drive successful project execution. This role requires strong leadership, organization, and the ability to manage complex construction environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and manage day-to-day field operations for multifamily and commercial construction projects.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel to maintain project schedules and workflow.
  • Develop and maintain short-term look-ahead schedules and ensure adherence to overall project timelines.
  • Monitor jobsite safety and enforce compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with project plans, specifications, and quality requirements.
  • Track project progress and implement corrective actions to maintain schedule and productivity.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, engineers, and owners to ensure alignment across all project phases.
  • Lead jobsite meetings and maintain clear communication with all stakeholders.
  • Manage manpower, materials, and equipment to support efficient project execution.
  • Coordinate inspections and maintain relationships with local authorities and inspectors.
  • Identify and resolve field conflicts, constructability issues, and scheduling challenges.
  • Maintain daily reports, site documentation, and progress tracking.
  • Oversee punch list completion and manage project closeout activities.
Qualifications
  • 10–15 years of experience working as a Superintendent for a general contractor.
  • Proven experience managing large commercial and/or multifamily construction projects.
  • Experience working within the DMV market is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing, scheduling, and subcontractor coordination.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
  • Proven leadership experience managing field teams and subcontractors.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple trades and maintain productivity on complex job sites.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working on ground-up multifamily, mixed-use, office, or institutional projects.
  • Familiarity with local building codes, permitting, and inspection processes within the DMV region.
  • Proficiency with construction management tools such as Procore, Bluebeam, or scheduling software.
  • OSHA 30 certification or equivalent safety training.
