Bank Modernization is a multi-year initiative aimed at re-architecting and building foundational capabilities for bank customers. We seek to design a real-time, intelligent Core Banking ecosystem that meets customer expectations for decades to come.

As a Capital One Director of Software Engineering, you'll work on customer-facing web and mobile applications, microservices, and back-end systems using emerging and traditional technologies such as node.js, Java, GO, AngularJS, React, Python, REST, JSON, XML, Ruby, Perl, NoSQL, relational databases, Spark, Artifactory, Maven, iOS, Android, and AWS/Cloud Infrastructure.

Requirements include: GoLang, Java, NodeJs, AWS (Serverless - Fargate, Lambdas, DynamoDB)

Nice to have: Python, Build tools, Financial industry experience.

You will:

1. Lead, manage, and grow multiple teams of product-focused software engineers.
2. Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of engineers.
3. Collaborate with product managers to understand application capabilities and testing scenarios.
4. Improve software engineering practices continuously.
5. Design, develop, test, implement, and support solutions within Agile teams.
6. Ensure the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of solutions.
7. Stay updated on tech trends, experiment with new technologies, participate in tech communities, and mentor others.
8. Encourage innovation, inclusion, outside-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity.
9. Enhance team velocity and deploy applications into AWS environments.
10. Transform monolithic applications into microservices and build new microservices.

Basic Qualifications:

1. Bachelors Degree
2. At least 7 years experience in software development
3. At least 5 years experience in people management

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Masters Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering
2. 10+ years experience in software development
3. 5+ years experience in Agile practices

The salary range varies by location:

• Anytown, DE: $239,900 - $273,800
• McLean, VA: $263,900 - $301,200

Hires in other locations will be offered pay ranges accordingly. The role is eligible for performance-based incentives, including bonuses and long-term incentives.
